Register your fitting design (CRN)

Prior to manufacturing pressure accessories / fittings, Calculations, Specifications and Drawings pertaining to their design must be submitted for registration to the regulatory authority in the province or Territory where the item is intended to be used. When deemed compliant with the applicable codes, a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) will be issued by the regulatory authority. Such CRN must be stamped on Category G fitting nameplates.

In Québec, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) issues a CRN for accessories / fittings to be used in the province. Applications for design registration must be submitted to the RBQ. However, if you plan on manufacturing accessories / fittings that will be used in Québec and in other Canadian provinces or territories, you can request for a CRN in multiple jurisdictions.
