Register your pressure vessel design (CRN)

Prior to manufacturing a pressure equipment, Calculations, Specifications and Drawings pertaining to its design must be submitted for registration to the regulatory authority in the province or Territory where the item is intended to be used. When deemed compliant with the applicable codes, a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) will be issued by the regulatory authority. The nameplate stamping of every boiler and pressure vessel shall include the Canadian Registration Number (CRN).

In Québec, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) issues a CRN for pressure equipment that will be used in the province. Applications for design registration must be submitted to the RBQ. However, if you plan on manufacturing pressure equipment that will be used in Québec and in other Canadian provinces or territories, you can request simultaneously a CRN from multiple jurisdictions.
