5.2 Contractor – Metal fabrication

This subclass authorizes construction work relating to cold-rolled steel and aluminum elements used in the construction of non-loadbearing partitions, wrought metal, welding work as well as similar or related construction work.

Additional explanations

This subclass is included, in its entirety, in subclass 5.1.   

This subclass authorizes, without exceeding the regulatory framework, construction work relating to:

  • the erection of light-gauge galvanized steel framework assembled with screws without welding or bolting   
  • partitions consisting of metal (not wood studs), covered in gypsum board 
  • acoustic insulation in the partitions (excluding sprayed products) 
  • the installation of special ceilings (stretched fabric, fibreglass, etc.)   
  • prefabricated removable partitions
  • aluminum, fibreglass or metal canopies, fixed or retractable (erection of the framework and securing to the building’s structure)   
  • building hardware such as grates, gates, fences, canopies, guardrails, banisters, railings, balconies, steps 
  • the installation of anti-theft grills
  • grilled partitions, metal partitions
  • wrought iron, steel, aluminum (steps, guardrails, banisters, railings, balconies, etc.)
  • metal ramps and steps
  • metal anti-glare fences on roads
  • welding.

NOTE: This subclass does not authorize the erection of structural steel framework whose assembly requires welding or bolting. 

NO LICENCE IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • the repair (notably by welding) of heavy machinery on construction sites
