This subclass authorizes construction work that is not the exclusive domain of master pipe mechanics and relates to refrigeration systems for air conditioning whose cooling capacity does not exceed 20 kW and which use a Group A1 or A2 refrigerating agent, or a mix of these, depending on the refrigeration classification and quantities stipulated in the Canadian Standards Association’s Mechanical Refrigeration Code (CSA B-52
It also authorizes construction work related to the heating and air conditioning units of a pulsed air system whose power does not exceed 40 kW and which uses a refrigerating agent referred to in the first paragraph, provided the contractor also holds the applicable subclass 15.1, 15.1.1, 15.7 or 15.8 licence.
Read carefully the definition of this subclass. In addition to subclass 15.9, the contractor might also need other subclasses depending on the work he intends to carry out.
Furthermore, this subclass authorize construction work related to the heating and air conditioning units of a hydronic system whose power does not exceed 40 kW and which uses as refrigerating agent referred to in the first paragraph, provided the contactor also holds the applicable subclass 15.4 or 15.4.1 licence.
It also authorizes similar or related construction work.
Amendments to this subclass have been made and are in force since January 16, 2017. To know what the definition of this subclass was in the former regulation, consult the page Amendments to the subclasses concerning heating, ventilation and refrigeration systems.
To view different scenarios illustrating the sharing of work among subclasses governed by the regulatory amendments, refer to the following document: Description of specialized subclasses concerning heating, ventilation and refrigeration units [Fr].
This subclass is included, in its entirety, in subclass 15.10.
This subclass authorizes, without exceeding the regulatory framework, construction work relating to:
Note that work relating to the distribution of air falls under subclass 15.7 or subclass 15.8. Contractors holding a subclass 15.1 or 15.1.1
