7.0 Contractor – Insulating, waterproofing, roofing and siding

This subclass authorizes construction work relating to fireproofing, waterproofing, insulating, roofing, and exterior cladding other than masonry, as well as similar or related construction work. 

Additional explanations

This subclass authorizes, without exceeding the regulatory framework, construction work relating to:

  • firestop collars ensuring the required level of fire resistance (does not include fire resistant shutters, doors or dampers)
  • the removal of asbestos or any other flame retardant product
  • air and waterproofing using processes of all types
  • the application of waterproofing products on walls, brick, balconies, foundations or other large surfaces   
  • the application of waterproofing products on existing roofs (to extend the roof’s service life)   
  • waterproof concrete screeds (3.2)
  • the tarring of foundations and the installation of draining walls
  • the injection of sealing products or grout (into walls and floors) to repair cracks (3.2)
  • the epoxy painting of surfaces
  • caulking and the installation of weatherstripping   
  • the installation of French or agricultural drains (2.5)
  • waterproofing roof membranes
  • the installation of air and vapour barriers (self-adhesive elastomeric membranes, etc.)
  • the caulking or insulation of refrigeration units, liners, pipes used in the construction of refrigerated rooms (does not include the installation of the refrigeration system, electricity, lighting, and water supply systems, etc.)  
  • soundproofing and acoustic control (caulking, installation of resilient channels, acoustic mineral wool, acoustic panels) (9.0)
  • flat roof coverings such as asphalt compounds, gravel, waterproofing membranes to ensure the watertightness of roofs including vapour barriers, insulation installed on the deck and metal sheeting  
  • the installation of shingles and tiles of all types to ensure the watertightness of sloped roofs, including its metal sheeting   
  • metal roof covering (made of aluminum, copper, tin, zinc, stainless steel), cornices, flashing, walls, ceilings, eavestroughs, partitions and screens   
  • thatched and slate roofs
  • metal shingles
  • the construction of a bump behind a chimney
  • the installation of heating cables along the edge of a roof when wires are connected using a plug
  • ironworks such as the installation of drips, flashings, vent covers as well as the installation of roof vents (ventilators, goosenecks, etc.)
  • the installation of ice dams
  • covering of building walls, ceilings and cornices using aluminum or steel sheeting and siding of all types 
  • coverings such as plaster, roughcast, morter, cement, stucco, aggregate, etc. 
  • acrylic coverings such as “Adex”, “Dry-Vit“, “Insulcrete”, “Ispro”, “Steff”, “Unifix”, “Viero”, etc., including the installation of styrofoam or light concrete backerboard
