Section for owner-builders

Since the Master Pipe Mechanics Act (CQLR, c. M-4) does not apply to owner-builders, the content of this owner-builder licence subclass is significantly different from that of the contractor’s. For example, this subclass is appropriate for construction work on natural gas burner systems everywhere in Québec, without exception.

This subclass authorizes, without exceeding the regulatory framework, construction work relating to:

  • the installation of oil stoves, floor oil furnaces, pot-type burners, etc.
  • the installation and connection of oil burners in a heating unit
  • the installation of oil supply pipes and connection to the burner
  • the installation of the oil tank connected to the burner (underground, above-ground, indoor or outdoor)
  • the installation of wall vents and flue pipes
  • the connection to the chimney
  • the installation and connection of prefabricated oil chimneys
  • the installation of a flue liner in an oil combustion chimney
  • the installation of controls and regulators for oil burners
  • the maintenance and demolition of oil combustion systems
