15.5.1 Contractor – Plumbing for certain work that is not reserved exclusively for master pipe-mechanics

This subclass authorizes maintenance work on plumbing systems in any building or construction, including piping and all accessories used for drainage or draining, for the back air vent, for supplying hot or cold water or gas

It also authorizes construction work on heating systems referred to in the first paragraph and carried out on the territory of a local municipality whose population does not exceed 5,000, unless it has a public sewer, or on an unorganized territory. 

Furthermore, this subclass authorizes construction work related to plumbing installations that are not the building’s installations and are located outside. 

Finally, it authorizes related construction work.

This subclass is included, in its entirety, in subclass 15.5.

This subclass authorizes, without exceeding the regulatory framework, construction work relating to:

• work included in Chapter III of the Québec Construction Code and Chapter I of the Safety Code  
• the installation of water meters
• the installation of garburators
• the installation of gas supply pipes
• the installation and replacement of hot-water heaters (connection to the power source requires the applicable subclass)  
• the installation of solar captors
• the installation of water treatment systems (softeners, filters, etc.)   
• the installation of sump pumps   
• the installation of plumbing not attached to a building:  
  • installation served directly by the waterworks system or source other than the building’s plumbing system:  
    • fountain in a park
    • watering and irrigation (in an orchard, field)
    • basins and fountains with water jets
    • water slide
    • pool
    • snow cannon systems
    • camping ground supply and evacuation system
  • installation served by a building’s plumbing system:
    • watering or irrigating a building’s lot
    • basins and fountains with water jets
    • water slides
    • pools.

NOTE: To check whether or not a municipality has a public sewer or find out if its population exceeds 5,000, contact the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy [Fr].  

WATER PUMPS:

While authorized to assemble the pump inside the building, the contactor working on underground water pumping systems (2.3) cannot connect the pump to the building’s plumbing network, as this work requires a subclass 15.5 or 15.5.1 licence.
