Fire detection and evacuation plan

As owner, you must equip your building with a fire alarm system and periodically test it to see that it's working well. Your building's fire alarm system must include:
  • heat and smoke detectors;
  • manual alarms, which must generally be located near fire escapes for the safety of occupants.

Contact your municipal fire department

You are urged to get in touch with your municipality's fire department. This service is in a good position to advise you on the most suitable system, the preparation of an evacuation plan and the required signage in strategic areas.
